Selected projects in creative robotics, human–robot interaction and custom prototype development. Each case began with a distinct physical challenge and became a working robotic experience through mechanical design, fabrication, electronics and control.

SLAPBOT
INTERACTIVE ROBOTIC ARTWORK · SOFT PNEUMATICS · HUMAN–ROBOT INTERACTION
SLAPBOT is an interactive robotic artwork by Hooman Samani, Cheng (Chandler) Chang and Saina Akhond. It explores physical interaction, artificial agency and power through a robotic arm fitted with a soft, inflatable hand.
Pneumatic actuation transforms the familiar gesture of a slap into a precise, repeatable robotic movement. Viewers activate the work with sound — such as clapping or speaking — while the robot performs the gesture at a safe distance inside a clear acrylic enclosure.
The project combines expressive movement, soft fabrication, sensor input and carefully choreographed control to create a provocative but non-contact encounter.

QUANTWIN
SOFT ROBOTICS · PERFORMANCE · DIGITAL TWIN
In QUANTWIN, artist and choreographer Silke Grabinger explores the idea of twins through an immersive digital double embodied as a soft robotic entity. Attached to the performer’s body, the robot becomes an interactive partner rather than a perfect mirror — a physical “other” that can move, respond and merge with the performance.
The work is presented in both performance and exhibition formats. Its robotics were developed by creative robotics london — Hooman Samani, Sania Akhond and Chandler Chang — in collaboration with the wider artistic and production team.
QUANTWIN brings soft robotics, wearable structures and expressive motion together to explore identity, embodiment and interaction.
